Thomas Earl Howerton & niece Bettie Higgins

Thomas Earl Howerton, youngest son of Minnie Belle Taylor Howerton and Charles Henry Howerton, died on September 1, in Louisville, KY at the age of 91.   Born on April 15, 1912, Tommy always claimed that his birth, along with that of his twin sister, Ethel Pearl, would have made national headlines had not the Titanic sank on the same day!

A native of Fayette County, AL, Tommy was a veteran of World War II, seeing combat service in the Pacific as a member of the Sea Bees (Construction Battalions).  At the conclusion of the war Tommy and his wife made their home in Louisville, KY where he worked for International Harvester.  Following his retirement he indulged in his hobbies of "working on cars" and "puttering around with woodworking."

He was predeceased by his wife, Lillie Mae Logsdon Howerton, his elder brother, Clifton Guy "Happy" Howerton, and his elder sister, Jennie Lou Howerton O'Master.  He is survived by his  twin sister, Ethel Pearl Howerton Deglas, who lives in Pulaski, TN.   Tommy is survived by eight nephews and nieces and several grandnieces and nephews.  His internment took place at Rest Haven Cemetery on Bardstown Road in Louisville, KY.
