Obituary
Orval "Fat" Howerton, 93, of Johnston City, IL. passed away at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 22, 2005 in Parkway Manor in Marion, IL. Services were held at 11:a.m. Saturday, Nov . 26.2005 in Murmanand Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with the Reverend Leon McBride officiating. Burial was at New Burnsides cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of southern Illinois.
Orval was born Sept. 7, 1912, in Johnson County, the son of Ira and Edith (Vaughn) Howerton. He married Juanita Rich, who preceded him in death in 1971. He later married Beryl Henderson in 1972. She survives. Orval was retired from the State of Illinois Maintenance Deptartment in Carbondale, IL. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of The Freewill Baptist Church of Johnston City. He is survived by a daughter, Norma Ranchino of Marion, IL. - Two grandchildren, Kevin Ranchino, and wife Sara of Herrin, Il and Lori Ferguson and Kevin of Marion, IL. - Four great grandchildren, Amanda Ranchino, Kyle Ranchino, Tyler Ferguson, and Hannah Ferguson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in law, Terry Ranchino; three brothers Harley Howerton, Everett Howerton and Loy Howerton, and two sisters, Ethel Russell and Ruth Snyder.
