
KINSLEY - Mary M. Howerton, 80, died Jan. 6, 2004, at South Wind Hospice House, Pratt, Kansas.
She was born Feb. 5, 1923, at Stafford, the daughter of Clem and Faye Burns Volker. A longtime resident of Kinsley, Kansas, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Congregational Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both at Kinsley.
On Feb. 19, 1947, she married C.J. Howerton at Hutchinson. He died Oct. 4, 1997.
Survivors include: two sons, Mark Howerton, Miami, and Mike Howerton, Girdwood, Alaska; a brother, Fred Volker, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Florene Volker Rukavina, St. Paul, Minn.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McKillip Memorial Chapel, Kinsley, with the Rev. Sara Davis Blodgett presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery, Stafford.
Memorials may be sent to South Wind Hospice or to the Edwards County Health Care Foundation, both in care of the chapel.
