Louise Howerton Lantrip, of Cambria, Illinois, died 26 June 2004, in Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, IL. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. 30 June 2004 at Riggins-Pillatsch Funeral home in Carterville, IL. with Rev Martin officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was born on 19 April 1923 in Crainville, IL. to Charles and Minnie (Crain) Vaughn. She married Thomas Daton Howerton on Sept. 28 1942, in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death Feb 7 1977. She then married Marion Orval Lantrip on June 15, 1985, in Hafer, IL. He preceded her in death May 21, 2004. She is Survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Lorraine and Curtis Messer of Tamaroa,IL., Donna Rowatt and Kenny Dawkins of Royalton,IL. and Norman Burgess, of Herrin,IL. and Wanda and Joe Malston of Carterville, IL. 18 grandchildren 36 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild and nine stepchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Daton Howerton and Orval Lantrip; two sisters Marie McNeill and Rose Ferguson and one brother, Clarence Vaughn.
(Louise) Clara worked for 18 years in dietary department at Herrin Hospital, where she performed various tasks. She was a full time minister since the age of 16 and attended the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Marion, IL. She enjoyed writing gospel songs, poems and preaching the gospel and singing at various nursing homes in the area.
