Joseph William Howerton, 89, of Rancho Bernardo died April 23. He was born in Rolla, Missouri and was a retired general works manager for Western Electric. He was a member of the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo and Friends of Rancho Bernardo Library. Survivors include his wife, Clarellen; daughters, JoEllen Sur of Tampa, Fla., Beth Howerton of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Meg Clagget of Evanston, Ill.; sons, J. William Howerton of Concord, Mass., and David Howertonof Orinda; 12grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: noon tomorrow, San Rafael Catholic Church, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive, San Diego.
Interment: Rolla Cemetery, Missouri.
