Elizabeth G. Howerton 96, passed away at 2:39 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin, IL. Mrs. Howerton was a home maker and a member of the First Baptist Church of DuQuoin. She belonged to the Rebekah lodge, and was a charter member of the DuQuoin Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting her grandchildren and taking tours. She was born Aug. 13,1906 in St Johns, IL. to Charles G. Rudloff,and Lilly Belle (Mills) Rudloff. She married Walter B. Howerton on June 12, 1922, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26 1971.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Helen and Fred Meyer, of Elgin, IL., Marie Carson, of Benton, IL. and Lorene and Jewel Lawrence of Reseda, Ca. Eight grandchildren and their spouses, ten great-grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and three brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Bob Dickerson officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memoial Park in DuQuoin, IL.
