Coy R. Howerton, age 91, of Joplin, passed away at 10:44 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at his home after an illness.
Born May 10, 1913, in Neosho, Mo., he was the son of the late William Westley Howerton and Susie A. Stites Howerton and lived in Joplin most of his lifetime. He worked at Quality Roofing in Kansas City, Mo., for 30 years and previously worked at Rainey Roofing in Joplin for several years.
A son, Stephen Howerton, preceded him in death in 1943.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara McCoy and husband, Harold, of Joplin; two sons, Floyd Howerton and wife, Peggy, and Jim Howerton and wife, Pam, all of Joplin; nine grandchildren, Mark, Mindy, Missy, Rick, Terri, Jon, Kristi, David and Amanda; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Forest Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating, under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
