Summary
of the Eighth Annual Howerton Reunion

Held
at Springdale School on Highway 25E in Claiborne County,
Tennessee
Saturday, October 20, 2007
We would like to take this
opportunity to acknowledge Fay Barnard and Jean Barnard for all
of their hard work in helping hold the reunion. THANK YOU, WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOU!
We also want to thank Louella (Lou) Howerton VanLandingham for
her contribution to the reunion.
After lunch, we had music provided by Fred Bull and Daryl Bull.
They are both very talented musicians and we are very
appreciative for them sharing their talent with us.

We gave three door prizes
this year. The first prize was a framed 8 x 10 picture of Richard
Dick Howerton and wife Sarah Sally Bull
Howerton. The picture was won by Polly Howerton Jordan. Polly is
the daughter of Clayton Howerton, granddaughter of Levi Brownlow
Howerton and great granddaughter of Richard Dick
Howerton. Yes, the picture that Polly won was of her great
grandparents and she was absolutely thrilled to get it.
The second door prize was a booklet containing some family
history and pictures. It was won by Carl Howerton, son of Bill
Howerton and grandson of Steve Howerton.
The third door prize was a bar of hand made soap donated by Mary
Jane (Howie) Howerton Mullis. The name of Howies business
is Lyen Around Soapn and we want to thank
Howie for donating some of her product to the reunion. It was won
by Margie Howerton Struzinski, daughter of Clayton Howerton and
granddaughter of Levi Brownlow Howerton.

In addition to the three
door prizes, prizes were awarded for the person who traveled the
farthest, the oldest gentleman present and the oldest lady
present.
The person who traveled the farthest was Louella (Lou) Howerton
VanLandingham, along with husband Chuck, from Taylor, MI.
We were blessed this year in that we had two gentlemen in their
nineties at the reunion. The oldest was William (Willie) Houston,
98 years. And the second gentleman was Von Garrett, 90 years. We
were so glad to have both of them with us.

Ray, Von, and Sharon Garrett
The oldest lady present this year was Fay Barnard, 80 years. Since we started the reunion, every year this award had gone to Grace Howerton Stubblefield. Sadly, now at the age of 91, Graces health has deteriorated to the point that she was unable to attend the reunion this time. Grace was deeply missed by all.
