Summary of the Sixth Annual Howerton Reunion

Held at Springdale School on Highway 25E in Claiborne County, Tennessee

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Fay Barnard and Jean Barnard for all of their hard work in helping hold the reunion.THANK YOU, WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOU!

Rev. T. J. Knox said the prayer before we ate.Thank you, Rev. Knox.

We gave two door prizes this year. One was a booklet containing some family history and pictures. It was won by Savanna Barnard Hightower. Savanna is the daughter of Estel Barnard, granddaughter of John Henderson Barnard, and great granddaughter of Catherine Howerton Barnard. The second door prize was a framed 8 x 10 picture of Richard “Dick” Howerton and wife Sarah “Sally” Bull Howerton.The picture was won by Velma Dalton Knox.Velma is the daughter of Bertha Howerton Dalton, granddaughter of William Calvin “Will” Howerton, and great granddaughter of Richard “Dick” Howerton.Yes, the picture Velma won was of her great grandparents.

In addition to the two door prizes, prizes were awarded to the oldest gentleman present, the oldest lady present and the person who traveled the farthest. T. J. Knox was the oldest man present, 85 years. Grace Howerton Stubblefield was the oldest woman present, 89 years.Lorene Howerton Lawrence and her husband Jewel traveled the farthest, all the way from Reseda, CA (everyone enjoyed meeting Lorene and Jewel and we really hope they can come again next year).
